          Rosy Palmarosa

          Section image

Steam distilled from swaying blades of grass native to the humid wetlands of Nepal, dōTERRA® Palmarosa invites us to lean in, close our eyes, and drink in a beautiful, rose-like aroma. It’s easy to associate Palmarosa essential oil with Rose, the Queen of Oils, because of the similarity between their names. And rightly so, since they’re both renowned for promoting youthful-looking and healthy skin! With both name and properties akin to the mighty rose, this grass, also known as Indian geranium, is anything but lowly. Palmarosa grass can grow to be almost ten feet tall and requires abundant sunshine to grow, and its sunny steam-distilled oil seems to encapsulate that brightness!

Palmarosa blends gorgeously with woody, floral, and citrus oils alike. Use it aromatically to create a welcoming, uplifting atmosphere with your favorite diffuser.

          Garden Breeze

          • 2 drops Palmarosa

          • 2 drops Eucalyptus

          • 2 drops Tangerine

          • 1 drop Geranium

Just so you know, Palmarosa isn’t a permanent product; so a promotion is prime time to add it to your collection. Once you do, try incorporating it into your regular routine of caring for and soothing the skin, from head to toe. Combine Palmarosa with your facial cleanser to support a youthful glow, with the addition of an absolutely kissable rosy scent. Thanks to the presence of geraniol in its chemical composition, this gently cleansing plant oil is perfect for areas needing extra support and repair. Include a drop or two in a soothing bath, or dilute with a carrier oil as part of a relaxing massage. Palmarosa will have a slight cooling effect on the skin as it gets to work promoting balance and hydration.

In addition to promoting that youthful glow, Palmarosa can also help calm occasional feelings of nervousness and stress that can creep stealthily into a day, invading our sense of calm.

Reach for rosy Palmarosa when mood is in need of uplifting, restless feelings arise, or mental fatigue strikes. Tranquility is within your grasp, and those tired, uncomfortable feelings won’t last forever!

Sweetly floral and a tad lemony, Palmarosa is a common ingredient in perfumes. Of course, given its comparable aroma to Rose oil, it follows that we would enjoy carrying this enticing floral scent around on our person throughout the day. Our ability to sense beautiful aromas is a gift, and it’s quite a wonder that just a drop of Palmarosa can mentally transport us to a tranquil rose garden. What a perfect place for a midday refresh and a mind-clearing space.

          Spring Path

          • 3 drops Palmarosa

          • 2 drops Bergamot

          • 1 drop Cedarwood

Here are some rosy substitutions: If you have a recipe that calls for Rose, use Palmarosa as an aromatic stand-in. Two other suitable choices would be Geranium or Neroli, which is helpful to know considering the rarity of Rose oil and the fact that not everyone has an extra stash of those queenly drops sitting around the house to add to perfumes, blends, or other recipes. Palmarosa essential oil, sourced from tropical grass that thrives in the wetlands of Southeast Asia, can also help us thrive in both body and mind. The essence of those sun-soaked green blades has been bottled up to lend us their bright, rosy hue. Jump on this chance to stop and smell the Palmarosa.
