Spring - is Celebration time

Which oil whispers 'celebration and family/friends get together, to you most audibly? For me, dōTERRA® Cinnamon Bark definitely tops the list of aromas that characterise this! Reminds me that the holiday season is just around the corner, Christmas cakes, holidays, and time out!

What is more relaxing than a scrummy apple cake, to share with friends?

This week I wanted to share a simple recipe that you can try out, well ahead of time, to add to your end of the year celebrations!

This recipe is a great way to share the inviting, balancing aroma of Cinnamon Bark in a very practical way and learn more ways to use essential oils.

Set your table with Spring flowers, and bright and happy colours, and onto your beautifully set table you can present the following cake as a deliciously healthy alternative to traditional sugary teacakes.

Serve with a generous dollop of yoghurt or if you are super indulgent, a dollop of cream!

Try this Super Simple Cinnamon Apple Cake!

To make Cinnamon Apple Cake, you’ll need:

• 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour ( to make Gluten Free I like to use GF plain Flour + 2 tsp of Guar Gum)

• 2 1/2 tablespoons baking powder

• 3/4 cup raw sugar

• 1/2 cup olive oil

• 1/2 cup orange juice

• 1/2 cup walnuts

• 2 small apples, grated

• 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

• 1 drop Cinnamon Bark oil

Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. Lightly coat cake tin with olive oil. Mix together flour, ground cinnamon, and baking powder. Set aside. Grate apples and set them aside. In a large bowl, add sugar, olive oil, and Cinnamon Bark oil. Mix together using a handheld or free-standing mixer. Add the flour mix and the orange juice alternately to the mixture of sugar and oil. Note that the mixture will look a little dry before the apples are added. Add the apples and walnuts, folding in gently with a spoon until just combined. Pour into baking dish and bake for 45 minutes or until a toothpick can be inserted and removed clean. Slice and enjoy right out of the oven!
